My Favorite Book, Yours?

I asked a good friend today what her favorite book was. She gave her response without hesitating. I wish I had one that I really could declare as my favorite. Of course she responded with "and yours?". Stumped. In a matter of seconds my mind raced through the thrills of treasure island. I rafted on the Mississippi with Tom Sawyer. I drew swords in a solemn oath shouting "one for all and all for one". So many others came to mind in a matter of seconds. The windmills on the plains of Spain. A rather large bull that liked flowers. A round table where all who sat were equals. Running through Sherwood forest with bandits who meant well. A bear who really loved honey and had no animosity towards anyone or anything"Oh bother"! Wow! What a tough question...
It didn't take long to provide my answer. Alexander Dumas wrote one that really is close to leading my list. The Count of Monte Cristo. I'll not explain why. It seems a well written book provides the opportunity to travel, dream, escape, explore, and how many other things. We learn to explore every word, search out all the details, imagine living the story.
I began this blog with hopes of expanding my literary capacities and maybe someday write a book. I have so much material. I've been to Europe, Mexico, Canada, every state except Hawaii and Alaska and will accomplish visiting them sometime in the next few years I hope. But more important than all the places I've travelled are all of the people I have met. The friends I have. The ones I went to kindergarten with, the ones I've worked with, the ones I've stayed in touch with. I want to write a story about all of you. So be patient, I'm working on it.
I have had no comments on any of my posts from anyone. Glen sent one but I lost it somehow. So here is my request, I want to know what your favorite book is. Feel free to respond with Title and author if you know it.
By the way, I apologized for asking such an unfair question. I think she laughed. Thanks M. hope you smiled!
