January 2013 no longer exists... but the tapestry goes on..

At least on this blog January is gone and never even got honorable mention. Strange thing is I feel a little remorse at the loss. I mean really its my fault. I let it pass and never considered I needed to blog a post in January but now the only reference January of 2013 will ever have on this blog is a belated apology. January 2013 I apologize for not giving you the recognition you deserved.
I think the paragraph above is a vague rendering of the gist of this post. Jeremiah 29:11 says He knows the plans He has for me, plans for good and not disaster to give you a future and a hope. I received a note of encouragement from a friend of mine today and it got me thinking. I replied that we all weave a tapestry as our lives progress and every encounter and experience is part of our tapestry. There is no short definition for a tapestry so you'll have to study the purpose and intent of a tapestry to see that you have one. It's a weaving of a cloth or rug that tells the story of our lives for the generations to follow. The beauty of a tapestry is each thread cannot stand on its own but needs the support of all the others to become something useful. Our tapestries are a weaving of all the threads of our story. Every single one of us has a story. For those of you that read this blog you should realize that you have become a thread in my tapestry as I have in yours. Each encounter from the simplest nod of acknowledgement to a day or lifetime of conversations and experiences is a part of our tapestry. So what part of your story do you want to display for future generations? If the realization that every word or act is a vehicle for the emotions of everyone around us and weaves a portion of their tapestry, doesn't cause us to stop and evaluate the things we say or do, then our tapestry will be dark and hard to find the good told in it. A tapestry of good intentions and acts tells a story based on love. It is bright and concise with a story that becomes interesting and valued. Every tapestry will have its dark spots. We all experience moments of anger, frustration, loss of hope, and many other emotions that reflect the trials and tribulations of our lives. The thing we often don't see is the tapestry of others around us who hold our hand and love us through the dark times. If you could timeline the tapestry of others as a measure of your tapestry you would find a relation between your dark time and their bright times. The opposite exists also. In their dark times are the times yours shines if you nurture them and love them through their hardships, trials and tribulations. So the old saying of what a tangled web we weave actually is a good thing when the relationship of our tapestries intertwine. Which really leads to this...
Tapestries were really show pieces of a families greatness in medieval times. The weavers would constantly update the story throughout the life of a noble. The noble would hang the tapestry in a great hall or a hall of feasts for all of the guests to see and study the life it revealed. Stay with me here. If each of our tapestries was actually a thread in a greater tapestry where would it hang? Lets go back to Jeremiah 29:11. Who authored the plans for your life? be patient... He also gave us a free will which he will not interfere with. It's called his sovereignty. His desire is for us to follow his plan but we often choose unwisely. His desire and his plan is for us to choose wisely but he also knows we won't always choose His ways. Proverbs 14:16 says "The backslider in heart [from God and from fearing God] shall be filled with [the fruit of] his own ways, and a good man shall be satisfied with [the fruit of] his ways[with the holy thoughts and actions which his heart prompts and in which he delights]."  So our choices dictate the thread of our tapestry. Our tapestry becomes a thread of His tapestry. His tapestry hangs in the great hall of heaven. It's updated every day. Like our tapestry His also includes the hard times, the times He lost one that He loved and He loves every single one of us. He always has and always will. He said it therefore it is. As the inhabitants of heaven pass through the great hall they can marvel at the tapestry of the King. It's a story of everything. From the beginning to the end, it's the alpha and omega thing and we are part of it. Isn't that astounding!
The gist of this post really boils down to this; Our choices reflect our hearts. Our actions reflect our relationship with the King. Our desire to please him reveals the beauty of our tapestry and.... while we write our story we need to remember it's a very small thread in His tapestry but a thread that is vital and loved. Are you writing a story worthy of the tapestry of the King or will it be a dark weave? I sincerely hope it's bright and full of love.
Always remember if Christ dwells in us, we must also dwell in Him to be a reflection of Him on this earth.
May His blessings and love overcome all of your tribulations.

By the way my friend, thanks for the inspiration, chin up buddy!
