Have you ever...
Chased a rainbow...
Really studied a Beetle...
Tasted the nectar of honey suckle...
Been in awe of the power a horse possesses...
Waded in the odor of pine trees in the spring...
Stood on a beach and wondered...
Watched an eagle soar...
Heard an owl hoot...
Life is so full of opportunities to experience!
The things you don't try are the things you'll never know.
I am a dreamer. My imagination is limitless. My desire to taste life is infinite. I can lay in a field of tall grass or under an apple tree, read a book or close my eyes and imagine far away places, and different ages. Amazing creatures and outstanding people all travel the halls of my mind.
Something I realized today, not a new discovery, we are all unique. Some of us like similar things. Some of us agree some of us don't. We have the innate ability to compromise without submitting. My entire life has been chasing things I want to be. A cowboy, a knight, a pirate, an explorer, an astronomer, an author, a chef, a musician, a secret agent, the list goes on. It gets confusing. If you'll notice some of the things I listed are imagination yet others are dreams. The difference? I don't know. What I do know is I have been lazy at pursuing the things I think I wanted to be. I wouldn't call myself a cowboy since I don't possess the skills required to be a cowboy but... I have spent many weekends on a ranch pushing cattle, as an extra pair of hands. To be a knight or a pirate? Many opportunities exist today to pursue both interests. Disney comes to mind or renaissance fairs. I can be an explorer by taking a walk into my field or follow the creek on my place or climb a hill and walk in the woods and discover things new to me every trip. An astronomer is as easy as turning off the yard lights, laying back in a hammock and looking at the beauty of the heavens at night. An author? I am working on that or you wouldn't be reading this. A chef, I make a really delicious PB&J (that's not all I can cook...). A musician... Played the violin for many years, took saxophone lessons for a year, classical guitar for a couple of years, and piano when I was young. A secret agent... Can't tell you anything or else....
I write all of this to reinforce the knowledge that life is good. I have tasted life and it has been delicious. A kings feast has been set before me. I have wonderful friends. None of them are the same as the others nor are they the same as me but they are wonderful. I could not categorize any of them because they are all unique. I have more interaction with some but none are discounted or elevated above the others under the term friend. Each holds a special place. Whether you dance in crazy costumes, say and write crazy things, play guessing games every day, have conversations that make no sense, or push me to be more than I am, argue with me over silly things, entertain me with your wonderful character, teach the word of God, state your political position, have no money or have millions, live for technology or choose the simple life... I love you all! You are the spice of the tastes of life and life tastes good!
The flavor of life may seem bitter at times but it really is in how it's perceived. Each trial is an opportunity, a journey of discovery.
Try something you've dreamed about.
Taste life...
I hope you find it pleasing.
